House Blessing

For more than a decade now, the six churches of the Southern Alameda deanery of the diocese of California have sponsored a June build and I expect we will build next June again!

At the closing ceremony of the build where we hear more about the family and hand over the keys to their new home, we always bless them and their home as we always have several priests building along with us.

Pictured here is The Rev. Ron Culmer marking the lintel of the front door with 20 C + M + B + 18. They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, the three wise men arriving at the birth of Christ with gifts in the 8th day. They are also the first letters of the Latin words Christus, mansionem, benedicat, “May Christ bless the house.”
